About the Product
Designer and interior decorator Dorothy Draper's colour-filled life story is one of high society, money, gossip, and throughout it all, reinvention. Carleton Varney has owned and directed Dorothy Draper & Company, Inc., for almost 60 years. He worked with Mrs. Draper at the end of her illustrious career, and wrote the only biography of her life, The Draper Touch: The High Life and High Style of Dorothy Draper, in 1988. In the book, Varney sets the scene and defines the milieu that Draper was born into in 1889 and from which she escaped to become one of America's leaders in design - a true visionary entrepreneur. Thirty-three years later, Shannongrove Press is releasing this deluxe edition of The Draper Touch. With a new foreword by Varney, newly found photographs, recently discovered historical documents from a private collection, and archival ephemera from Draper's family, this beautiful tome reveals Draper's fascinating journey and the real stories behind her ground-breaking work. AUTHOR: Carleton Varney grew up in Nahant, Massachusetts. He graduated from Oberlin College, with studies at the University of Madrid and throughout Europe. Upon returning to New York in 1961, he earned a master's degree in education from New York University and later joined the decorating firm of Dorothy Draper & Company, Inc., where he has been the owner and president for almost 60 years. In 1966, he hosted one of the first television shows dedicated to decorating: Inside Design aired every day on CBN. He has designed and decorated private homes, hotels, other commercial venues, and events in locations around the world, such as Florida, Hawaii, Ireland, and New York. He served as design consultant to the White House for the Carter Administration. In 2018 he was nominated as a member of the National Council on the Arts, and he is currently on the National Council of the White House Historical Association. Varney holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Charleston in West Virginia. He has published 35 books on decorating and penned two novels. Varney writes a regular syndicated column that appears in the Palm Beach Daily News. He is the father of three sons, Nicholas, Seamus, and Sebastian and has one grandson, Bowie. SELLING POINTS: . If the tracking information shows that the parcel has been successfully delivered, the order will be considered delivered. Responsibility for the parcel passes to the recipient upon confirmed delivery.
We are not responsible for any loss, theft, misplacement, or non-receipt of the parcel following confirmed delivery.
If the recipient is unable to locate the parcel after it has been confirmed as delivered, the recipient is responsible for contacting the shipping carrier directly to lodge an investigation. We are not responsible or liable for the outcome of any such investigation.
Warranty & Returns
All products sold by EXBOX Australia Pty Ltd (“EXBOX”) come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Customers are entitled to a replacement (subject to stock availability) or refund for a major failure and may also be entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Customers are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

EXBOX does not provide advance replacements. Where a product needs to be inspected, repaired, replaced, or otherwise assessed under warranty, the customer must first return the product to EXBOX.
Unless otherwise agreed or required under Australian Consumer Law, the customer is responsible for the cost of returning the product to EXBOX, including any shipping and insurance costs. EXBOX will cover the shipping cost of sending the repaired or replacement product back to the customer.
Any special shipping arrangements or discounts agreed to by EXBOX will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights or remedies available to consumers under the Australian Consumer Law.
Once your return has been received, inspected, and approved, your refund will be processed within 1–3 business days.
