About the Product

Bees, for most people mean honey or bumble bees. In fact, the honey bees and bumblebees make up only a small proportion of the bee species that live in Britain, while the other bees are the great majority (230 or more species). Now it is recognised that these other bees play an important role in the pollination of crops and wild flowering plants. This has prompted much new research. A shift to gardening for wildlife has brought the solitary bees into sharper relief: many people now recognise mining bees, leaf-cutters and mason bees in their gardens, and even provide 'bee hotels' for them.
This book draws on the great wave of new knowledge to give a wonderful insight into the complicated lives of solitary bees. The main focus is on the wonderful fascination and complexity in the behaviour and ecology of this remarkable group of insects. It uses many of the authors own observations alongside the studies provided by others, to discover the numerous strategies used by male bees to find females and persuade them to mate. It follows the females in their search for a place to make their nest, and their gathering of materials - symmetrical sections of leaves, mud, chewed-up leaf fragments, plant hair or resin - to make the cells into which they place a store of nectar and pollen and lay a single egg. We watch them sealing up the nest, securing it until the following year when the new generation appears. We explore the interactions between flowering plants and their bee visitors, asking what the plants get from the relationship, as well as how the bees select the plants they visit, and the ingenuity required to extract pollen, nectar and other rewards. Finally, we look at the places where bees flourish, highlighting what can be done to encourage bees and thus ensure they continue to pollinate our flowers and crops.

Once the parcel has been confirmed as lost by the carrier, we will arrange a replacement or refund, as appropriate.
We are unable to issue a refund or replacement while the parcel is still in transit or while the carrier's investigation is ongoing.
If the tracking information shows that the parcel has been successfully delivered, the order will be considered delivered. Responsibility for the parcel passes to the recipient upon confirmed delivery.
We are not responsible for any loss, theft, misplacement, or non-receipt of the parcel following confirmed delivery.
If the recipient is unable to locate the parcel after it has been confirmed as delivered, the recipient is responsible for contacting the shipping carrier directly to lodge an investigation. We are not responsible or liable for the outcome of any such investigation.
Warranty & Returns
All products sold by EXBOX Australia Pty Ltd (“EXBOX”) come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Customers are entitled to a replacement (subject to stock availability) or refund for a major failure and may also be entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. EXBOX does not provide advance replacements. Where a product needs to be inspected, repaired, replaced, or otherwise assessed under warranty, the customer must first return the product to EXBOX.
Unless otherwise agreed or required under Australian Consumer Law, the customer is responsible for the cost of returning the product to EXBOX, including any shipping and insurance costs. EXBOX will cover the shipping cost of sending the repaired or replacement product back to the customer.
Any special shipping arrangements or discounts agreed to by EXBOX will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights or remedies available to consumers under the Australian Consumer Law.
Once your return has been received, inspected, and approved, your refund will be processed within 1–3 business days.
