This book is on urban resilience – how to design and operate cities that can withstand major threats such as natural disasters and economic downturns and how to recover from them. It is a collection of latest research results from two separate but collaborating research groups, namely, researchers in urban design and those on general resilience theory. The book systematically deals with the core aspects of urban resilience: systems, management issues and populations.
The taxonomy can be broken down into threats, systems, resilience cycles and recovery types in the context of urban resilience. It starts with a discussion of systems resilience models, focusing on the central idea that resilience is a moving average of costs (a set of trajectories in a two-player game paradigm). The second section explores management issues, including planning, operating and emergency response in cities with specific examples such as land-use planning and carbon-neutral scenarios for urban planning. The next section focuses on urban dwellers and specific people-related issues in the context of resilience. We are unable to issue a refund or replacement while the parcel is still in transit or while the carrier's investigation is ongoing.
If the tracking information shows that the parcel has been successfully delivered, the order will be considered delivered. Responsibility for the parcel passes to the recipient upon confirmed delivery.
We are not responsible for any loss, theft, misplacement, or non-receipt of the parcel following confirmed delivery.
If the recipient is unable to locate the parcel after it has been confirmed as delivered, the recipient is responsible for contacting the shipping carrier directly to lodge an investigation. We are not responsible or liable for the outcome of any such investigation.
Warranty & Returns
All products sold by EXBOX Australia Pty Ltd (“EXBOX”) come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
Customers are entitled to a replacement (subject to stock availability) or refund for a major failure and may also be entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. Customers are also entitled to have goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

EXBOX does not provide advance replacements. Where a product needs to be inspected, repaired, replaced, or otherwise assessed under warranty, the customer must first return the product to EXBOX.
Unless otherwise agreed or required under Australian Consumer Law, the customer is responsible for the cost of returning the product to EXBOX, including any shipping and insurance costs. EXBOX will cover the shipping cost of sending the repaired or replacement product back to the customer.
Any special shipping arrangements or discounts agreed to by EXBOX will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights or remedies available to consumers under the Australian Consumer Law.
Once your return has been received, inspected, and approved, your refund will be processed within 1–3 business days.
